If you're planning a comedy night, understand that it's not like presenting a musical act. (Or a DJ.) A comedy show resembles a play or a movie. It must be the center of attnetion. Everyone must be seated. Everyone must be able to see the stage. You'll need to close down your pool tables, shut off your televisions and instruct your staff to lower their voices. If your venue is too rowdy to permit this, then it's not the right venue for a comedy night. Avoid selecting a night of the week that does good business anyway. If your Friday is already jumping, for example, leave it alone. Friday doesn't need help. Pick a dead night where you need to increase revenue. You won't be driving away any existing income; instead you'll be creating additional revenue. Folks are good at ignoring advertising.
